CHURCH OF NGUYEN SY FAMILY – THANH CHUONG

The Church of Nguyen Sy family is located in the center of Tu Vien village, Xuan Lam canton, now Thanh Luong commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province, built in 1600, campus area is 580 m2; including works: gate, two worship houses, Back street and yard.

The Church of Nguyen Sy family is a place to worship ancestors and descendants of the family. Throughout the process of national contribution and defense, in every period, the family also had heros, positively contributed to the homeland and the country such as famous generals Nguyen Sy Chung, Nguyen Sy Quyen, Nguyen Sy Bieu, and Nguyen Sy Lang (ie Nguyen Thuc Hang), Nguyen Sy An, Nguyen Sy Sach...

Nguyen Sy Sach was born in 1905. At the age of 17, he passed the secondary degree in the first course of Quoc Hoc Vinh School with Ton Quang Phiet and Dang Thai Mai. Despite his short life (Nguyen Sy Sach died in 1929), his time in revolutionary activities was not much, but his positivity, enthusiasm and aggressiveness contributed significantly to the development of the Vietnamese revolutionary movement.

Nguyen Sy Sach Church was a historical evidence in the revolutionary climax of 1930-1931, the place of meeting, printing and hiding documents of the Party; where the District Party Committee, Xuan Lam canton Committee worked from September 1930 to January 1931 to direct the Soviet movement in Thanh Chuong downstream area. This is also the place where Quang Trung Party cell was established –Tu Vien's Party Cell combined with half of Xuan Bang village and half of Xuan Duong village, led by Comrade Nguyen Sy Tam as Secretary.

The church was also the place to mark the activities of comrades Nguyen Tiem - Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Le Xuan Dao - Member of Trung Ky regional Party Committee, Dang Chanh Ky, Ton Gia Chung, Ton Thi Que, Ton Gia Tinh, Vo Thuc Dong… When the Soviet government was established in the villages, this place was also a place to learn National language for people in the region.

Every year, at the church, many festivals are held to remember and appreciate the merits of ancestors. This is also the place where organizations of the district and commune come to burn incense in memory of Comrade Nguyen Sy Sach on major national holidays.

With those values, the church of Nguyen Sy family was recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information as a National Historic Site according to Decision No. 985-QD/VH dated May 7, 1997.
