DIEC PAGODA

Diec pagoda is located on a sacred land of Quang Trung ward, Vinh city, Nghe An province. The name of the pagoda is borrowed from the Buddhist scripture "diệc bộ diệc xu", meaning to follow, to run together, associated with a folk story about herons sent by heaven to rain and water.

Diec pagoda was built at the end of the Tran Dynasty, after many restorations, since the end of the 19^th century, Diec pagoda has become an important cultural and religious center in Nghe An province. Diec pagoda in the past was very large, it can be said that this is the best in Nghe An province. The pagoda currently only has a three-way area about 10 meters high, consisting of three floors, built of brick and cement with crockery mosaics, surrounded by many diaphragms and couplets.

In addition to the three-way area, the pagoda also retains 2 stone steles and a space that used to be an incense burning hall, now used as a place to worship Buddha. 2 stone steles about 2m high, 1m wide with very beautiful patterns.

Today, Diec pagoda is still an important cultural and religious center in Nghe An province. Despite going through many events, Diec pagoda is gradually regaining its splendor, becoming a major cultural and religious center of the province.
