HAU COMMUNAL HOUSE – YEN THANH DISTRICT

Hau communal house is located in Bac Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district. In the past, Bac Thanh commune consisted of 3 villages: Hau village, Thuong village and Thai village, each village had its own communal house and took the village name for the communal house. That is also the reason the house is named above.

The communal house faces the South, the layout of the premises is in the style of the word "mouth", including the Bai Duong hall, left hall, right hall and harem house, in the middle is an open-air courtyard. The frame of the communal house is made of ironwood, with tall wooden pillars. At the structures such as beam, rafter, king post, post head, stemple... are decorated with beautiful themes of four sacred animals (dragon, unicorn, turtle, phoenix), four kinds of trees (Cedrus, chrysanthemum, bamboo, apricot) are beautiful and have high artistic value.

Like many other communal houses in Vietnam, Hau communal house, in addition to its function as the center of cultural activities of the village, is also a place where people worship the gods who have merits in reclamation and establishment of villages, fighting the enemy to protect the country, and supporting the people to be prosperous and healthy, to be ordained by the feudal kings. These are the following gods:

- Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang;

- Cao Son Cao Cac;

- Bản cảnh Thành Hoàng Thung lĩnh Triệu cơ Nguyễn Tướng Công.

Experiencing many changes and ups and downs of history, the communal house was restored and embellished many times but still basically kept the ancient architecture. Hau communal house is one of the large-scale communal houses in Yen Thanh district in particular and Nghe An in general. Worshiping is also increasingly focused, sanitation work, smoke incense for the gods are guaranteed.

Today, coming to Hau communal house, in addition to seeing the massive architecture, visitors also feel a cozy and sacred space emanating from the communal house.

In 2002, the communal house was recognized as a National Historical - Architectural Monument according to Decision No. 39/2002/QD-BVHTT.
