BUFFALO FIGHTING FESTIVAL IN CAM SON COMMUNE

On April 30, 2015, the first buffalo fighting festival was held in Cam Son commune, Anh Son district, Nghe An province. From then on, until the next appointment, on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country on April 30 and the National Day of September 2 every year, in harmony with the national holidays, Cam Son commune organizes a buffalo fighting festival.

The buffalo fighting contest in Cam Son commune has become an important event for local people. These days attract tens of thousands of people not only in Anh Son district but also neighboring districts such as Tan Ky, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, Yen Thanh... The people of Vinh City also come to witness the impressive buffalo fighting with their own eyes.

Buffaloes brought to participate in the Festival were selected very strictly by the Organizing Committee. Usually there will be two rounds, including the qualifying round and the final round. The qualifying round will be held on April 30 and the final round will be held on September 2. The rounds are very exciting, the winning buffalos in the qualifying round will be taken care of and trained by the buffalo owner to participate in the final round. The final winning buffalo will usually be hunted by buffalo owners across the country and bought at a very high price.

    Through many organizations, the buffalo fighting festival of Cam Son commune, Anh Son district has become an expected festival on the holidays of April 30 and September 2 of the people in the region, becoming a unique local culture.
