Viet Lao Martyrs Cemetery

Located close to National Highway 7 on the way to Nam Can border gate (Vietnam - Laos border), Vietnam - Laos Martyrs Cemetery is located peacefully in the center of Anh Son town in Anh Son district, Nghe An province. With an area of ​​nearly 07 hectares, Vietnam - Laos Martyrs Cemetery is the largest cemetery gathering the graves of Vietnamese volunteers and experts who had participated in fighting and died in Lao PDR. This is also the only cemetery in Vietnam named after two countries, two peoples. The cemetery was built in 1976. By 1982, with the love of drinking water to remember the source, our Party and State decided to bring back all the remains of martyrs who sacrificed in Lao PDR, and gather at the Vietnam-Laos Martyrs Cemetery.

At the Vietnam - Laos Martyrs Cemetery, in addition to the martyrs whose homeland came from Nghe An, there were also many other martyrs from Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Bac Giang... They all have brought their youth to contribute to the country. You are also a way to protect your country. Since 2008, the Vietnam - Laos Martyrs Cemetery has been embellished and this place has become a place to go to for relatives of martyrs and also a close place for people around the area. Every year, Cemetery Management Board welcomes thousands of guests to burn incense to pay tribute to the heroes and martyrs who have sacrificed heroically for both nations.

The Vietnam - Laos Martyrs Cemetery is a symbol of the loyalty and solidarity of two ethnic groups. The war has receded, but its echo still remains in every village and street across Vietnam. President Ho Chi Minh once affirmed: "The blood of the soldiers had dyed the revolutionary flag more red. The sacrifices of the martyrs have prepared the country to bloom with independence, the result of freedom". And not only fighting for our country, the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers did not spare their youth for the noble international mission, for the friendship between Vietnam and its neighboring countries...
