HO CHI MINH SQUARE AND UNCLE HO's MONUMENT

Ho Chi Minh Square is located in Truong Thi Ward, Vinh city, Nghe An province. Construction was started on May 19, 2000 and inaugurated on May 19, 2003 on the occasion of the 113^th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

Ho Chi Minh Square is a cultural work of national stature, an architecture with ideological and artistic value, showing the respect of the people of Nghe An province in particular and of Vietnam in general. The square is the highlight, combining the beauty of harmony with the space and architecture of the homeland of Nghe An. Most especially, the entire monument rests on the Chung mountain range (simulated from Chung mountain in Nam Dan district), a place that has been attached to Uncle Ho since childhood. Here, when he was a teenager, young boy Nguyen Sinh Cung and his friends used to be engrossed in kites on windy summer afternoons. Initially, the construction of a mountain in the heart of the city met with many objections and people suspected that it was an illusion, but in the end the idea was both practical and romantic. People take soil from Nam Dan to build mountains. Bamboo and grass are taken from provinces and cities throughout the country to give the mountains a green cover.

Prominent in the middle of the square is the image of Uncle walking, he is still as simple as that, still wearing white khaki clothes, silver beard, simple rubber sandals, graceful and leisurely gait to gentle. Uncle's image exudes a very close affection to people.

Over time, Ho Chi Minh Square has now become a natural and inseparable part of Vinh city. Coming to Uncle Ho's hometown, coming to Vinh city, we can't help but look to Ho Chi Minh Square, bow before the statue of Uncle Ho, let your heart calm down, come to the truest emotions that are love, sincerity deep in the heart. As for the people of city, for a long time, walking in the Square, watching the fountains, enjoying the wind at Chung mountain… have become daily routines. The Square is also the venue for major cultural events at provincial and national levels.

Standing under Uncle Ho's monument, under the sacred national flag, the people of Nghe AN in particular and the country of Vietnam in general pledge to try, live and work according to Ho Chi Minh's thought and morality.
