Nghe An has many charming mountain scenes, many famous scenic spots that are known by many people. Coming to Nghe An, visitors cannot help but visit the temple of King Quang Trung - a spiritual and cultural work with many mysterious and majestic features. Especially every New Year (spring), thousands of people from all over the country come here to worship, sacrifice and enjoy the beautiful scenery of heaven and earth. This is also a red address for the younger generation to visit and learn about the most glorious history page of the country's history.
Back in history, after the great victory of the Spring of the Ji Rooster in 1789, Emperor Quang Trung embarked on the construction and consolidation of the country. The first and also the most important thing is to choose the land to build the capital for the new dynasty, after many visits to Nghe An, seeing that this is a land of talented people and imprinting many important historical events of the nation, he issued a decree for a man of La Son land namely Nguyen Thiep - Director of Central Education Agency to build Phuong Hoang Trung Do citadel in Yen Truong, Chau Loc district. Although it was only built in a short and urgent time, the citadel already has inner citadel, outer citadel and Thai Hoa palace - where Emperor Quang Trung established his reign. Unfortunately, when Phuong Hoang Citadel had just been built, the plan to move the capital was still unfinished when the Emperor suddenly died. Today, on the old dragon storey's floor, the quoting stele of Phuong Hoang Trung Do was established to mark the place where the citadel was located in the past.
Located on Dung Quyet mountain, so in order to go to the temple, visitors will follow 1km of winding mountain roads, enjoy the fresh air of nature, heaven and earth. Stepping up 81 steps, the temple architecture appears very majestic and ancient, typical for temple architecture in Vietnam. The temple area is a four-pillar three-doors gate, including a large gate and two small symmetrical gates on either side. The large gate is arranged on 2 floors and 8 roofs made of ironwood in the style of overlapping matches, all of 3 gates are roofed with lotus petal tiles.
Every year in the temple of Emperor Quang Trung, there are two solemn occasions on 29th July of the lunar calendar - the anniversary of Emperor Quang Trung's death, and 5th day of the first lunar month which is the victory day of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da. On these days, visitors from all over the country come here to enjoy the spiritual and cultural values, admire the beautiful natural scenery, and the sacred quiet atmosphere of the temple.
